Puffed Rice Laddu (Lai or Tilwa)

This laddu is a famous sweet of North India. It is made on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.

Ingredients:

Puffed rice (mudhi/murmure)-250g
Jaggery (gud)-250g
Water- 3/4 cup

Recipe:

Heat a thick bottomed pan with jaggery and water. Boil till thick syrup is formed. To check the consistency, add few drops of the syrup into water. It should solidify immediately. Now add puffed rice stir the ingredients. Allow the mixture to cool for few minutes. Smear your palms with little ghee or water. Roll out balls from the mixture.

Do’s: Keep these laddus or lai in air tight container to keep them crispy for many days.
